Following the BJPโs victory in the Delhi elections after over 26 years, party leaders in West Bengal are now aiming to topple Mamata Banerjee’s government in the 2026 Assembly elections.
Despite supporting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal remained silent until Saturday afternoon about BJPโs significant win.
Sukanta Majumdar, BJPโs state president and Union minister, said the Delhi election results would inspire BJP workers in Bengal ahead of the 2026 elections. He expressed confidence that the people of Bengal would reject Mamata Banerjeeโs TMC government.
โInspired by Delhiโs outcome, people in Bengal will vote for BJP in 2026. The TMC will be rejected, and our grassroots workers will be motivated by this win,โ Majumdar said. He also thanked the Bengali community in Delhi for their support.

Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, also praised the Delhi victory, calling it a clear mandate against AAP. He predicted that similar results would occur in Bengalโs 2026 elections.
โDelhi voters have rejected AAP. Now, Bengalโs voters will do the same for TMC in 2026,โ Adhikari said at a rally in East Midnaporeโs Mahishadal.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Delhi victory, Adhikari expressed his belief that Delhi would benefit from a “double-engine government” after AAP was ousted.
