Market Opening Bell: Sensex gains 210 points, Nifty steady above 25,000, Infosys among top gainers


Sensex, Nifty Today: In early trade, 1,626 stocks in the Nifty pack were trading in the green, while 752 were trading in the red. Seventy-three stocks remained unchanged.

Indian equity benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, started Friday’s trading session in the green amid positive global cues. The 30-share BSE Sensex added 210.22 points to start the session at 81,758.95; the Nifty gained 68.95 points to open at 25,074.45. In the last trading session, the Sensex closed at 81,548.73 and the Nifty 50 at 25,005.50.ย In the last trading session, the Sensex closed at 81,548.73 and the Nifty 50 at 25,005.50. Similarly, the broader indices also traded in green in the opening session. While the BSE Midcap was up 115.18 points, or 0.25 per cent, in the early trading session, the BSE Smallcap index added 147.78 points, or 0.28 per cent, to trade at 53,550.16.ย 

From the Sensex pack, Infosys, Maruti, Axis Bank, and Larsen & Toubro were among the major gainers, with Infosys leading the pack by jumping around 2 per cent in the early trade today. On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever, Eternal, HDFC Bank, ITC and State Bank of India were among the laggards, with Hindustan Unilever shedding around 1.22 per cent in the opening trade.ย

“Fresh long positions should only be considered if the Nifty sustains above the 25,160 level. While the broader trend remains cautiously bullish, close monitoring of key technical levels and global cues will be crucial to navigate the current market environment,” Amruta Shinde, Technical & Derivative Analyst at Choice Equity Broking Private Limited.

What did Gift Nifty indicate?

Gift Nifty, an early indicator for the Nifty 50, indicated a flat start as it opened with a gain of 83 points at 25,194.50, compared to the previous close of 25,111.50.ย 

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 3,472 crore on September 11, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 4,045 crore on the same day.ย
