Houthi drone injures dozens in southern Israel
The explosion in Tel Aviv comes hours afterย a drone launched by Yemenโs Houthi rebels wounded 22 people in the southern Israeli city of Eilat on Wednesday, AP reported.
The strike marked a rare breach of Israelโs advanced missile defences, which have largely prevented casualties from previous attacks.
In the Gaza Strip, local hospitals reported at least 41 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trumpโs Middle East envoy voiced optimism about a new plan to end the war, though he gave no details or indication of whether Israel or Hamas had agreed to it.
The Iran-backed Houthis have repeatedly targeted Israel with drones and missiles and attacked international shipping, saying the actions are in support of the Palestinians. Most of their projectiles have been intercepted or landed in open areas without causing injuries.
The Houthis said they launched two drones in the latest attack. Israel has previously responded with airstrikes on Yemen, and Defence Minister Israel Katz warned in a post on X that โanyone who harms Israel will be harmed sevenfoldโ.
The Israeli military said it attempted to intercept the drone. Magen David Adom reported that the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, with two people suffering severe shrapnel wounds to their limbs.
