Popular Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda passed away while receiving treatment at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, after a 12-day battle for life following a tragic road accident. The 35-year-old artist sustained severe head and spinal injuries on September 27, when his motorcycle collided with stray cattle that suddenly appeared on the road near Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
Doctors reported that Jawandaโs neurological condition remained critical throughout his treatment, with minimal brain activity and no significant improvement despite intensive medical care. His condition was described as โextremely criticalโ shortly after the accident, and he had been on life support since his admission to the hospital.

A resident of Sector 71, Mohali, Jawanda was beloved for his hit songs, including Surname, Kamla, Mera Dil, and Sardari. He also made a significant impact in Punjabi cinema, starring in films such as Jind Jaan, Mindo Taseeldarni, and Kaka Ji.ย

Beginning his musical journey in 2014 with the single Munda Like Me, Jawanda quickly gained fame for his soulful voice and lyrics that celebrated Punjabi pride and culture. According to his official Apple Music biography, he had initially aspired to become a police officer but ultimately pursued his true passion for music.

Hailing from Pona village in Ludhianaโs Jagraon, Jawanda was celebrated for songs like Tu dis penda, Khush reha kar, Sardari, Surname, Afreen, Landlord, Down to earth, and Kangani. In addition to his music career, he showcased his acting talent in the 2018 Gippy Grewal-starrer Subedar Joginder Singh, as well as Jind Jaan and Mindo Taseeldarni in 2019.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Fortis Hospital on Sunday to check on Jawandaโs health condition, reflecting the artistโs widespread influence and the concern for his recovery prior to his passing.

Wife pleaded with him not to go on a bike trip
Rajvir Jawandaโs close friends said his wife had repeatedly asked him not to go on the bike trip to Shimla that led to the fatal accident. ย A friend said โShe told him not to goโฆ but he didnโt listen.โ She had specifically asked him not to ride his powerful 1300cc motorcycle, worried it was unsafe. Rajvir had assured her that he would return soon. The family says that was their last conversation.
Rajvir was known to be private about his personal life. He never shared his wifeโs name or photos on social media and preferred to keep his family life out of the public eye.
