The emphatic victory of the NDA alliance in the Bihar Assembly elections sparked immediate celebrations within the Bengal BJP on Friday, with party leaders asserting that the results reflected a clear message from the people. As soon as the Bihar verdict became evident, BJP workers across Kolkata and district party offices burst into jubilation, waving banners, holding Narendra Modiโs posters, and distributing sweets.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari reacted early, invoking the slogan โAnga-Bangla-Kalinga.โ He declared that Anga โ Bihar โ belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kalinga, Odisha, too is with the party, and that Bengal is next in line. Supporters around him chanted โJai Shri Ram,โ while Adhikari distributed laddus outside the Assembly to mark the victory.

BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar also took a sharp dig at the Trinamool Congress (TMC), claiming that Biharโs elections were conducted smoothly after the SIR process and that no opposition party had raised complaints there, unlike in Bengal. According to him, the TMC was protesting in fear of โlosing loot money.โ Reiterating Adhikariโs sentiment, Majumdar said that the political winds now suggested that Bengal would also fall to the BJP, adding that the โjungle kingโ had been defeated in Bihar and the same would soon occur in West Bengal.

State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya echoed the jubilant mood on social media, stating that the people of Bihar had rejected dynasty politics, corruption, and hypocrisy.

However, the TMC dismissed the BJPโs claims, claiming that Bengalโs political landscape cannot be equated with Biharโs. State Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee congratulated the NDA on its performance in Bihar but cautioned the BJP not to overestimate its influence in Bengal. He said that while Bihar recorded its highest voter turnout, drawing parallels between the two states was an exaggeration.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh similarly maintained that Bengalโs voters rely on Mamata Banerjee โin winter, summer, or monsoon,โ adding that the political equation of Bihar would have no impact on West Bengal. He emphasised that Bengalโs politics are rooted in development, harmony, self-respect, and human rights. Ghosh asserted confidently that Mamata would return to power with a massive majority in 2026 and predicted that the TMC would win more than 250 out of 294 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections.

With political circles buzzing over the Bihar results, TMC leaders reiterated their stance that Bengal cannot be โcapturedโ by the BJP simply because Bihar favoured the NDA. Meanwhile, the Bihar results have been nearly finalised, marking a clear victory for the JDU-led alliance.

Political analysts attributed the NDAโs success in Bihar to several factors, notably the extensive welfare delivery by the โdouble engine government,โ Nitish Kumarโs enduring image as a guarantor of peace and security, and the continued strong support of women voters.
