Congressโs Jammu and Kashmir unit has brushed aside differences following months of bitter infighting between the two divided camps after the direct intervention of Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, party officials said.
ย
The JK unit of the Congress party remained divided into two separate camps, one that supported Vikar Rasool and the other that rallied behind JKPCC chairman Tariq Hameed Karra.
ย
Both leaders had lowered their relations after Karra replaced Vikar as the president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress unit earlier this year.
ย
For months, Vikar had avoided attending the party functions, including the ones when Congress and its alliance partner National Conference, hit a rough patch over a seat-sharing agreement for the Rajya Sabha elections.
ย
While several other Congress leaders wanted both factions to settle differences and maintain coordination for the betterment of the party, the differences persisted for months until they were finally resolved on Sunday.
ย
ย
Meanwhile, AICC General Secretary G A Mir said Congress informed and directed all leaders in J&K to work in synergy for strengthening the party structure rather than weakening it.
ย
Sources within the party revealed that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has told Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal to bridge the gap that persists in the Congress leadership in Jammu and Kashmir.
ย
After what he described was an important meeting, Venugopal, on his official X handle, posted, โHeld a productive meeting on J&K with GS in charge. @NasirHussainINCji, PCC President Sh. @TariqKarraji, CLP Leader Sh. @GAMIR_INC ji, CWC Permanent Invitee Sh. @vikar_rasoolji and AICC Secretaries deputed J&K to discuss organisational matters and our roadmap for the near future in the state.โ
