The second match will be played on January 14 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, but ahead of that, the hosts suffered a major blow as all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out with an injury, and has been replaced by Ayush Badoni.

In the meantime, Kohli is once again chasing multiple records, including breaking Sachin Tendulkarโ€™s record for most runs against New Zealand in ODIs and Ricky Ponting for most runs in List A cricket. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, on the other hand chasing Rahul Dravid for most 50+ scores in the format.

On the other hand, despite not having Kane Williamson in the mix and a relatively young squad, New Zealand posed a heavy threat to India in the opening game. Openers Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls set the tone at the top of the order, before Daryl Mitchell played a scintillating knock of 84 runs. With the ball, Kyle Jamieson was the star performer, clinching four wickets.ย
