UP Budget 2026 Live Updates: Finance Minister tables budget with total outlay of Rs 9.12 lakh crore


Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna has presented the Budget in the Assembly. According to the Finance Minister, MoUs worth approximately Rs 50 lakh crore have been signed, potentially creating approximately 1 million jobs.

Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna on Wednesday presentedย the Budget 2026-27 in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. While presenting the Budget, Khanna said that the per capita income is projected to reach Rs 1,20,000 in 2025-2026. He said that the government has succeeded in lifting approximately 60 million people out of multidimensional poverty in the state, and the unemployment rate has fallen to 2.24 per cent.ย “During the previous and present tenure of our government, the state has witnessed all-round development, be it strengthening of law and order, expansion of infrastructure facilities, industrial investment, employment generation, women empowerment, skill development of youth, prosperity of farmers and poverty alleviation. The GSDP of the state for the year 2024-2025 has been estimated at Rs 30.25 lakh crore, which reflects an increase of 13.4 per cent compared to the previous year,” Khanna said.ย

Earlier, the Economic Survey said that Uttar Pradesh’s budget size has more than doubled from Rs 3.47 lakh crore in 2016-17 to an estimated Rs 8.33 lakh crore in 2025-26, while capital expenditure rose from Rs 69,790 crore to Rs 1,47,720 crore during the period.ย Presenting the report on the opening day of the budget session on Monday, Khanna said the budget has expanded by Rs 4.86 lakh crore over the past nine years, compared to an increase of Rs 2.34 lakh crore between 2008-09 and 2016-17.
