The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday slammed Rahul Gandhi for his comments during the Budget Session as “non-parliamentary”. In a sharp counterattack against Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in Parliament on the India-US trade deal, BJP described the Congress leader as the “wisest fool in Congressdom” and accused him of dragging parliamentary decorum to its lowest level.
Gandhi had alleged that the government had “sold Bharat Mata” and termed the trade deal with Washington a “wholesale surrender”, claiming it was meant to “protect the BJP’s financial architecture, on which there is a case in the United States”.
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, in a press conference following the session on Wednesday, stated that the Congress party’s conduct in the House has been the same as witnessed on the roadside.BJP MP said, “Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, seems to believe in spreading venomous lies and then leaving abroad. His behaviour during parliamentary proceedings has been lethargic.”‘You Sold Bharat Mata’: Rahul Gandhi’s Sharp Attack At PM Modi, ‘Not Your Servant’ Message To Trump
The BJP MP said, “The behaviour of the Congress party in the House has been no better than what one might witness on the roadside. Such conduct is unbecoming in a parliamentary setting. We saw how women were used as a shield as people moved towards the treasury bench, holding banners, recalls the memories of Shaheen Bagh.”
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate on the Union Budget, launched a sharp attack on the government over the India-US trade agreement. He described the deal as a “wholesale surrender” and claimed it was harming India’s interests. He alleged that the agreement was made to “protect the BJP’s financial architecture, on which there is a case in the United States”.
“This is complete surrender. It is a tragedy because it is a surrender not just of the Prime Minister. He has surrendered the future of 1.5 billion Indians. He has surrendered the future because he wants to protect the BJP’s financial architecture on which there is a case in the United States,” Gandhi said.He further said that if an INDIA bloc government had negotiated the agreement with the US, it would have told US President Donald Trump that India must be treated as an equal partner.
He also claimed that the Indian textile industry was “finished” because of the agreement.
Right after Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the House, Union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju, trading barbs at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, remarked that Congress does not like the idea of a progressing India. Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s comment about “the PM selling India,” Rijiju remarked that no “mai ka laal” could ever sell India.
