Akhilesh accuses BJP of โ€˜playingโ€™ with his security

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government of โ€œplayingโ€ with his security and demanded an explanation for the withdrawal of National Security Guard (NSG) protection previously provided to him.

ย

In a statement issued from the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said the government must clarify the reasons behind the security review that led to the removal of his NSG cover.

ย

โ€œThe BJP government is playing with my security. I had NSG security, but it was withdrawn. The government should have disclosed why,โ€ Yadav said, alleging that security-related decisions were being politicised.

ย

During his day-long visit to Jhansi, Yadav also referred to the withdrawal of Special Protection Group (SPG) security for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the BJP government had removed his protection and made him vacate his official residence.

ย

ย

The Samajwadi Party chief further accused the BJP government of disrespecting religious leaders and students. Referring to recent incidents at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, he alleged that students and religious figures were humiliated.

ย

โ€œThey pulled the โ€˜shikhaโ€™ of our โ€˜batuksโ€™ and humiliated them. The chief minister is constantly insulting Shankaracharya. He is demanding certificates from him,โ€ Yadav said, adding that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should apologise.

ย

He said that a โ€œtrue yogiโ€ empathises with peopleโ€™s suffering and accused the government of celebrating bulldozer actions against houses. Yadav also alleged that the chief minister does not respect the Constitution and law, and cited cases mentioned in Adityanathโ€™s 2017 election affidavit.

ย

โ€œNo other chief minister has faced as many cases as the current chief minister,โ€ Yadav claimed.

ย

The BJP has not yet responded to Yadavโ€™s allegations.
