Christina Applegate details physical toll of her MS battle

In a heart-breaking health update, actor Christina Applegate has shared that her battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has now largely confined her to bed.

ย

Since her 2021 diagnosis, the โ€œDead to Meโ€ star has been openly documenting the “unbearable” physical toll of the disease, noting that chronic pain now dictates much of her daily life.

ย

Despite these gruelling limitations, Applegate remains determined to show up for her 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, pushing through the exhaustion to handle school runs and essential activities.

ย

โ€œI want to take her; itโ€™s my favourite thing to do. Itโ€™s the only time we have together by ourselves,โ€ the 54-year-old actress said in an interview.

ย

โ€œI tell myself, โ€˜Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.โ€™ And thatโ€™s what I do.โ€

ย

Applegate is planning to release a memoir, โ€œYou With The Sad Eyesโ€, a book about her battle with the illness, growing up as a child star, and enduring abuse.

The book, set for release on March 3, will detail how childhood was for Applegate, who grew up with a single mom in California. The book will also shed light on domestic abuse and molestation that the actor endured in her early life.

ย

Applegate is the daughter of actress Nancy Priddy, who struggled with heroin addiction and had an abusive boyfriend. โ€œI think I had kind of the worst situation from [ages] 3 to 7, but there was stuff like that going on in all our homes,โ€ she said.

ย

Applegate later found herself in a romantic relationship marked by violence. โ€œMy mom always said, โ€˜I never met a junkie I didnโ€™t like.โ€™ And that kind of was how I rolled,โ€ she admitted.

ย

She had previously shared about her late boyfriend Lee Grivas, who died of a drug overdose in 2008 at age 26.

ย

And earlier this month she teased the memoir with solemn statements shared with her nearly one million followers. โ€œI don’t have room for inauthenticity or hidden meanings. There’s no longer subtext when I speak. Everything I say is true, unadorned, and real,โ€ she declared.

ย

โ€œI’m finally free to reveal the true me, and in doing so, I hope in some small way you might be able to come to terms with some of your past too,โ€ the actress said.
