Aaron Pierre joins Superman sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’

Aaron Pierre has officially joined the cast of “Man of Tomorrow”, the highly anticipated sequel to DC Studios’ 2025 hit “Superman”.

 

Pierre, who is already playing Green Lantern hero John Stewart in HBO’s upcoming DC series “Lanterns”, confirmed the news on his Instagram handle on Friday.

 

Directed and written by James Gunn, “Man of Tomorrow” is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.

 

The film will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult return as Superman and the iconic villain Lex Luthor.

 

According to reports, the story will see Superman and Luthor forced into an unlikely alliance as they face a powerful technological alien threat known as Brainiac.

 

German actor Lars Eidinger will play the role of Brainiac.

 

Several cast members from the previous film are also expected to reprise their roles. These include Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo and Sara Sampaio.

Production on “Man of Tomorrow” is scheduled to begin in April in Atlanta and continue through the summer.

 

The film follows the commercial success of the 2025 “Superman” film, which helped launch a new era for DC Studios under Gunn’s creative leadership.

 

Further casting announcements and production updates are expected soon from the makers.

 

Meanwhile, in “Lanterns,” Pierre stars as John Stewart, a new recruit to the Lantern Corps, opposite Emmy winner Kyle Chandler as Lantern legend Hal Jordan. According to the show’s logline, the series follows “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

 

Pierre is known for his performance in the hit Netflix film “Rebel Ridge,” and for portraying Malcolm X in the Nat Geo series “Genius: MLK/X”. He also starred in Barry Jenkins’ limited series “The Underground Railroad” for Prime Video, as well as voiced Mufasa in Jenkins’ “The Lion King” prequel. Pierre most recently voiced a key role in “Goat,” from Sony Pictures Animation.
