Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, is set to begin a new chapter in his Indian Premier League career as he eyes a strong campaign with the Lucknow Super Giants in 2026. The junior Tendulkar, who made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians, was roped in by LSG in a trade from MI.
He was with MI from 2021; however, he was ruled out of the season due to an injury. He was benched throughout 2022 and made his IPL debut in 2023, playing in four matches and picking three wickets. The 26-year-old featured in a single game in 2025 and went wicketless. He was then traded to LSG for Rs 30 lakh ahead of the 2026 season.
During an interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, the cricketer spoke on his experience with MI and how he felt about the limited opportunities he got. “You played a few matches for Mumbai Indians (MI) and bowled well. Your swing was good, so did you feel you should have gotten more opportunities?” Arjun was asked. “Who doesn’t feel that? No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get a chance,” Arjun replied.
Arjun speaks on expectations of being Sachin’s son
Arjun gave his thoughts on having been under the burden of expectations of being son of legendary Sachin. “There are comparisons. I want to know as a human beingโbut only if you’re comfortableโbecause I always try to put myself in your shoes. When a big name is associated with you, it is obviously a blessing, but there are also challenges. So, how do you deal with it mentally? When you perform well, there will be comparisons, even though you haven’t chosen them,” Arjun said. “I play cricket for my passion, and not to prove anything to anyone. I just focus on the process of working hard and enjoying my game.”
LSG open campaign against DC
Lucknow Super Giants begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals in a high-stakes opener at the Ekana Stadium. Both teamsย will be eager to set the tone early. All eyes are on Rishabh Pant, leading LSG with renewed responsibility, while DC, captained by Axar Patel, boast a balanced and dangerous lineup. Arjun could make his LSG debut as early as in this game.
