CSK vs PBKS: 3 Player battles to watch out for in IPL 2026 Match 7

Chennai:

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, famously known as Chepauk, for the first time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season today against Punjab Kings. The venue was once a fortress for the men in yellow but they lost five out of six matches last season while PBKS have been breaching the fortress regularly over the last three seasons. Having lost their opening game, CSK would be keen on register their first points on the board in front of their home fans. Ahead of the clash, here are the player battles to watch out for in this encounter:

3 Player Battles that can decide the CSK vs PBKS IPL 2026 clash

1. Arshdeep Singh vs Ruturaj Gaikwad

Arshdeep Singh takes the new ball for PBKS and Ruturaj Gaikwad opens the innings. This match-up looks perfect to set up the clash and the CSK skipper must be careful early on. He has got out to Arshdeep three times in IPL while scoring just 40 runs at a strike rate of 114.28. This is a great chance for PBKS to start the innings on a high, as an early wicket of Gaikwad will be a massive blow for the five-time champions.

2. Khaleel Ahmed vs Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer will be itching to get going in this game after missing out in the previous encounter. He will mostly bat in the middle overs unless the Kings lose two quick wickets and Khaleel Ahmed will most likely bowl at least an over or two at him, thanks to the favourable match-up. Khaleel has dismissed Iyer three times in IPL for 33 runs only.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal vs Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson needs to score runs quickly in the powerplay as Yuzvendra Chahal has had his number very often in the Indian Premier League. The leggie dominates the face-off against Samson heavily, dismissing him five times in 12 innings for just 61 runs. No other bowler has dismissed him as often in the cash-rich league.
