Five Indians among 12 injured by falling debris of intercepted Iranian missiles in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi:

At least 12 people, including five Indians and six Nepali nationals, were injured in Abu Dhabi due to falling debris of the Iranian missiles that were intercepted by the air defence system of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday, said the Middle East nation’s government. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Abu Dhabi Media office further said people must avoid spreading rumours or unverified information regarding the recent strikes by Iran.

“As part of the ongoing follow-up to the previously reported incident in the Ajban area caused by falling debris following the successful interception by air defence systems, authorities confirm that the incident has resulted in minor to moderate injuries sustained by 6 individuals of Nepali nationality and 5 individuals of Indian nationality, and one major injury sustained by an individual of Nepali nationality,” the post read.

Last month, two Indians lost their lives in a similar incident after Iranian missiles were intercepted by UAE’s military. The Indian government had expressed its grief and said it was coordinating with local authorities to bring back their mortal remains from Abu Dhabi.ย

Abu Dhabi’s Habshan gas facilityย attacked

Earlier in the day, the UAE authorities confirmed that the Habshan gas facilityย was attacked by Iran, but the strike was successfully thwarted by its air defence system and no injuries were reported. However, the Iranian strike forced the authorities to suspend operations at the facilityย and emergency teams were rushed to the spot.ย ย

The Habshan gas facility, which is operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), is one of the largest gas processing sites of the world. As per the ADNOC the Habshan complex comprises 14 processing trains and has the capacity of around 6.1 billion cubic feet of gas each day.ย

Coming to the UAE, the Middle East country has slammed the Iranian regime for its attacks. Iran, since the outbreak of the conflict with the United States (US) and Israel, has targeted civilian infrastructure, including hotels, in the UAE. Though it has apologised for attacks on its neighbours, Iran has vowed to target all American and Israeli assets and bases in the region.
