Delhi Capitals will host Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in their first home game of the IPL 2026 season. The Axar Patel-led side picked up a comfortable six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in their first game and itโs all about carrying the momentum from there on. With the ball, T Natarajan dominated the proceedings, claiming three wickets, while Sameer Rizvi stole the show with the bat, smacking unbeaten 70 runs, to win the Player of the Match.
However, not everything was soothing for Delhi. The top order flopped miserably as they were reduced to 26/4 at one stage. The opening duo of KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka scored a golden duck and 1, respectively, while batting at number three, Nitish Rana made 15. Ahead of the high-voltage clash against Mumbai, that is one area that the team management needs to address.ย
The visitors, on the other hand, also picked up a comfortable win in their opening match. Against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Hardik Pandya-led side produced a strong batting show, chasing 221 runs with rather ease. The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton had a sensational outing, scoring 78 and 81 runs, respectively. With the ball, Shardul Thakur had an impressive outing, claiming three wickets and was adjudged the Player of the Match.
Now, it’s most likely to be a proper batting show when the two sides meet on April 4.

The surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected to assist the batters. During the T20 World Cup 2026, the ground produced high-scoring affairs and it is likely to behave the same in the IPL. Since itโs a day game, the dew is not going to play a part and hence, the toss wonโt be a factor. However, it has rained in the area on April 3 and for the same reason, the ground has been under cover. Thus, bowling first could be the ideal choice. Anything over 220 runs could be a good total on the board.ย
