Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh made headlines after he confronted pro-Khalistan protesters mid-concert in Calgary, Canada.
ย
According to reports, some audience members were seen raising pro-Khalistan flags during his Aura Tour stop in Calgary in an apparent protest against Dosanjh for his recent appearance on โThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonโ at a time when Punjab was battling catastrophic floods.
ย
Diljit asked them to leave the venue, recalling how pro-Khalistan protesters had previously created a ruckus at his old concerts, including the ones held in Australia in 2025.
ย
Firmly defending his decision to appear on Fallonโs show, Dosanjh said his intention was not personal promotion but to bring global attention to Punjab. He added that he has consistently used every platform available to speak about Punjab.
ย
He said in Punjabi, โItโs not my job to do charitable acts. But I always talk about Punjab wherever I go.โ

Diljit went on to talk about the time he went on KBC. “I always said the national media doesn’t talk about us. The channels I go to, I talk about Punjab. I didn’t talk about my songs. I didn’t promote anything. I went to that channel for the sake of Punjab.”
ย
Dosanjh also said he and his team had been actively involved in relief efforts for flood-affected regions in Punjab. โJitne jhande dikhane, dikhaoโ (show as many flags as you want), he said to the protesters.
ย
The crowd responded with cheers, and the moment quickly went viral.
ย
Notably, Dosanjh’s recent appearances in Canada and on US television have drawn global attention both for his remarks on Punjab and for his reference to the Komagata Maru incident.
ย
Previously, after Diljit appeared on KBC, he began receiving threats from The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) group, an outfit linked to pro-Khalistan elements. He faced backlash for touching Bachchanโs feet who was accused of inciting violence against the Sikh community during 1984 Sikh riots. Even after facing protests for decades, Bachchan denies his involvement. The group threatened to shut down his Australia concert as they believed the singer-actor has disrespected the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot by touching Bachchanโs feet.
ย
Diljit started his Aura Tour at BC Place in Vancouver on April 23, returning to the venue two years after delivering what Billboard Canada described as the largest Punjabi music concert held outside India.
ย
On the work front, Dosanjh is preparing for his new film โMain Vaapas Aaungaโ alongside Sharvari and Vedang Raina. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film is set to release in theatres on June 12.
