Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million (ยฃ11 million) lawsuit against tech giant Samsung. The pop star claims the company featured her face on television packaging without ever asking for her permission or getting her consent.

The lawsuit, filed this past Friday in a California federal court, highlights that Lipaโs photo was used prominently to sell various TV models across the United States.

Samsung’s packaging was “designed to improperly capitalize on Ms. Lipa’s hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung’s products”, the lawsuit states.

The filing includes allegations of copyright infringement, trademark infringement and misappropriation of Lipaโs likeness and image.

The photo in question was from Lipaโs 2024 performance at the Austin City Limits Festival. Since Lipa owns the photograph, her lawyers are making it clear that Samsung had no right to use it to sell TVs.

The 30-year-old singer first got to know about her appearance on Samsung boxes in June 2025, the lawsuit said. Netizens also started posting about it on social media, terming it the “Dua Lipa TV Box”.

The lawsuit brings to focus two particular Instagram comments, where a user said they would “get that TV just because Dua is on it,” and another stated: “If you need anything selling just put a picture of Dua Lipa on it”.

As per Lipaโs legal team, Samsung ignored “repeated demands” to “cease and desist from infringing on her rights”.

Lipa has commercial collaborations with several brands, including Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, and Puma, as per the filing. She has also teamed up with Apple, Porsche and Chanel, and just recently became Nespressoโs global ambassador.

On the work front, Lipa released her last album โRadical Optimismโ in 2024.
