Former South Africa batter and Sunrisers Hyderabad star Heinrich Klaasen has etched his name into the history books. The hard-hitting middle-order batter achieved a huge milestone during the Indian Premier League 2026, continuing his stellar run in the tournament.ย

Klaasen has been one of the standout performers for SRH in their IPL 2026 campaign. He has consistently given Sunrisers the much-needed impetus and finish in the second half of the innings, playing a pivotal role in their success so far. The right-handed batter did just that in the clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and created a major T20 record.

Klaasen scored a fiery 24-ball 51 as he powered his team to a huge total of 255/4. While SRH could not win the game by a big enough margin to top the group, Klaasen tasted the history of his own.

Klaasen brings up 600 runs, creates history

Klaasen completed 600 runs in the IPL 2026 as his run-scoring form continues. All of his runs have come from No.4 or below, highlighting the power-packed innings that he has played this season. Meanwhile, Klaasen has become the first-ever cricketer to have hit more than 600 runs in a T20 tournament while batting at No.4 or below.ย

Coming into the RCB game, he had 555 runs in 13 innings batting at No.4 or below. Playing at No.4 for their RCB game, Klaasen smashed a blistering 24-ball 51 as he went on to complete his 600 runs in the ongoing tournament.ย

He broke Rishabh Pant’s record for the most runs in a T20 tournament while batting at No.4 or below. Pant had made 579 runs in 11 innings in IPL 2018.

Most runs in T20 tournament batting at No.4 or lower:

1 – Heinrich Klaasen: 606 runs in IPL 2026

2 – Rishabh Pant: 579 runs in IPL 2018

SRH win but fail to book top-two spot

SRH won the match against the RCB by 55 runs. SRH batted first and posted a huge 255/4 after Abhishek Sharma (56), Ishan Kishan (79), Heinrich Klaasen (51) and Nitish Reddy (29) produced some stellar knocks. The RCB bowlers were put to the sword, and no one found an easy time out in the middle.

SRH needed to restrict RCB to 165 and win the match by a minimum of 90 runs to take their NRR past RCB and book a top-two spot. However, RCB batted smartly to ensure they posted the requisite runs.
