Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is set to star in Ridley Scott’s next film “Treasure Island”, where he will essay the role of the pirate Long John Silver.
The film is an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel, with the same title and will have a script by Emmy-winning “Adolescence” writer Jack Thorne.
“Treasure Island” follows young Jim Hawkins as he finds a map to Captain Flint’s long-lost fortune and embarks on a perilous voyage aboard the Hispaniola. Aboard the ship, Jim and the crew face mutiny led by the cunning, one-legged cook, Long John Silver but ultimately outsmart the pirates to claim the gold.
Jackman’s last featured in “The Sheep Detectives”, where he essayed the role of George.
Besides “Treasure Island”, he will also feature in “The Death of Robin Hood”. The film is set to release on June 19.
