Zac Efron is taking his โ€œDown to Earthโ€ lifestyle to an extreme new level!

ย

The actor has officially broken ground on a wild new Australian mega-mansion nicknamed the “FutureCave.” The twist? It is being constructed almost entirely out of cannabis plants!

ย

Efron has teamed up with designer Joost Bakker for the mind-blowing project.

ย

“Excited to get started on Zac’s house!” Bakker wrote an Instagram post last month that featured a group photo of himself, Efron and other crew members. “Especially want to thank these two legends @main__frank for working so hard to get this project designed and approved!”

ย

Efronโ€™s dream home will come up on a 128-hectare (about 316-acre) piece of land near the New South Wales-Queensland border. The โ€œHigh School Musicalโ€ actor had bought the plot in 2020. Much of its building material for the sustainable estate will be made from hemp sourced from a local farm.

ย

Interestingly, even the mattresses, curtains and pillows for Efronโ€™s home will be derived from the plant, Bakker informed, adding that he is planning to create a hemp drum-made washing machine with the assistance of an appliance maker.

The mansion will have six bedrooms and a rooftop garden with a massive living area.

ย

“I’ve lived just about everywhere you can for several months or even years at this point. And I think if I had to look back at my whole life and think where do I ultimately want to end up, every time I go to Joost Bakkerโ€™s I have a sense of โ€˜this is actually what I want in life.’ It just seems right. Like, thatโ€™s the way it should be done,” Efron had said in a December 2025 interview.

ย

While construction on Efronโ€™s home is on, Bakker has been sharing updates on social media. “For us @plantbord itโ€™s just exciting that the farmers that grow our food can also make the materials we use to make the kitchens where we cook our food,” Bakker wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself and Efron in a field. “Although @zacefron kitchen and bathroom joinery will only use only 200 hundred boards (less than 1000 square metres of crop) if we embrace this product we have the potential to help farmers restore soil health in a natural way.”

ย

โ€œ(Efron) wants me to push my ideas as far as they can go,โ€ the environmental innovator added.
