Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has confirmed that she is expecting her first child with husband Raj Nidimoru and revealed that she plans to step away from acting temporarily to focus on motherhood.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday during celebrations for the success of her latest film, “Maa Inti Bangaaram”, Samantha shared the happy news. The action drama, directed by Nandini Reddy, hit theatres last week and has emerged as a major success, receiving widespread critical acclaim while crossing the Rs 50 crore mark at the worldwide box-office.
“After ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’, I will need to take a short break because of my current situation. I’ll be going on maternity leave, but once that phase is over, I’ll return with another film for all my fans,” Samantha said.
Her statement effectively ended the speculation surrounding her pregnancy, which had intensified in recent weeks after several social media users suggested that the actor appeared to be sporting a baby bump during promotional events for the film.
Samantha tied the knot with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru in December 2025 in a private ceremony held at Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation in Coimbatore.ย She was previously married to Naga Chaitanya from 2017 until their separation in 2021. Raj was earlier married to Shhyamali De.

During the event, Samantha also opened up about relationships and the importance of self-confidence, stressing that successful partnerships require equal commitment from both individuals.

“Relationships can be complicated, and not everything is within your control. It takes two people to make a relationship work. The most important thing for a woman is to have confidence in herself and feel complete as an individual. Once that happens, finding the right person becomes easier.
ย
“If you depend on someone else to complete you and enter a relationship feeling incomplete, expectations become unrealistic and mistakes can happen. That’s not fair to either person. Become complete on your own first, and then step into a relationship. In most cases, that approach works much better,” she said.

The screenplay has been penned by Raj Nidimoru and Vasanth Maringanti.ย The film also features Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami Tadimalla, Sreemukhi, Manjusha and Srinivas Gavireddy in important roles.
