The makers of โMirzapur: The Movieโ on Thursday released the teaser for the highly anticipated film, giving audiences their first look at the big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed crime drama franchise headlined by Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi.

The project marks the first theatrical venture from the โMirzapurโ universe, which began as a streaming series in 2018 and quickly established itself as one of India’s most popular and successful OTT properties.

Running for over two minutes, the teaser revisits the violent and chaotic world of Mirzapur, where power struggles continue to fuel bloodshed, betrayals and fierce rivalries. Set in 2018, the film appears to explore an untold chapter linked to the events of the show’s first season. The teaser also offers fresh glimpses of some of the franchise’s most beloved characters, including Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu). Jitendra Kumar is also seen in the teaser, reprising the role of Bablu Pandit, Guddu’s younger brother, who was killed in the closing episodes of the first season.

Actor and politician Ravi Kishan joins the ensemble cast and seems poised to play a major antagonist. Armed and menacing, he leaves a strong impression through several action-packed sequences featured in the teaser.

Filled with stylised violence, explosive gunfights, intense confrontations and high-speed chases, the preview suggests that the film has been mounted on a significantly larger scale than the series. While preserving the gritty and rugged atmosphere of Purvanchal, the story also expands its canvas to Rajasthan, showcasing sweeping desert vistas and elaborate action spectacles.

The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers. Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, โMirzapur: The Movieโ is scheduled to hit theatres on September 4 and will be released in both Hindi and Telugu.
