PM Modi welcomes investment of over Rs 3,310 crore by Australia’s largest pension fund AustralianSuper | Business

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on the second leg of his three-nation tour, on Thursday welcomed AustralianSuper’s additional AU$500 million or over Rs 3,310 crore investment in India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), saying the move reflected global confidence in India’s growth story.ย AustralianSuper is Australia’s largest pension fund, managing more than $410 billion in membersโ€™ retirement savings on behalf of more than 3.6 million members from more than 485,000 businesses (as at 31 December 2025).

“India welcomes the AU$500 million investment from AustralianSuper, announced by their Chief Executive, Mr. Paul Schroder this morning in Melbourne. This is yet another glimpse of the global confidence in Indiaโ€™s growth and reform trajectory. It also reflects the immense opportunities that our dynamic economy offers global investors,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

PM Modi receives grand receptionย 

The Prime Minister landed in Australia on Wednesday after concluding his visit to Indonesia. He was accorded a grand reception by the Indian diaspora in Melbourne.

Today, he joined his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, at the India-Australia CEO Forum and Economic Roadmap Business Reception, as part of efforts to bolster bilateral trade and strategic relations during the second leg of his three-nation visit.

India-Australia Business Forum witnesses investor enthusiasm

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, addressed the Australia-India CEO Forum and Economic Roadmap Business Event in Melbourne. More than 200 leading industrialists and business leaders from both countries attended the event. PM Modi said that the economic partnership between India and Australia has grown rapidly over the past few years, and now is the time to take investment and trade between the two countries to new heights.

Australia is India’s 14th-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade in goods and services valued at USD 24.1 billion in 2025-26.

During his three-day visit, the two prime ministers are scheduled to engage in comprehensive discussions spanning defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility, critical technologies, sports, and people-to-people relations. Following his engagements in Australia, PM Modi will head to New Zealand for the final leg of his visit.
