Rosario Dawson has finally broken her silence on her cameo bring chopped off from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.
During a recent appearance at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, the actress confirmed that she had shot a scene as her Daredevil character Claire Temple for the latest ‘Spider-Man’ film but it did not make the final cut.
Dawson added that she was “a reject of Spider-Man.”
Dawson’s character is a nurse who cares for injured superheroes across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Making her debut in the first season of ‘Daredevil’ (2015), she went on to reprise the role in multiple MCU series, including ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Iron Fist’, and ‘The Defenders’.
“I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out,” she told fans during the event. “I told my mom, and she was like, ‘That sucks. Now I can’t post the pictures.’ And I was like, ‘Right mom, me being cut out of the movie that has the largest viewership of a trailer ever, the issue is you can’t post the BTS photos.’”

Dawson shared that Spider-Man holds deep personal significance for her due to her family roots. Her uncle, a professional comic book artist, first mastered his craft by learning how to draw the iconic web-slinger.
“There’s a frame in one of the new comics that has a young Spider-Man talking to Daredevil, and they made it so that the young Spider-Man goes to PS19 in the Lower East Side, which is where I went to elementary school,” Dawson said. “So when I tell you my post was already ready with my BTS, with my grandson wearing all his Spider-Man stuff… Then I got the email that was like, ‘Yeah, nah.’”
Dawson described herself as “a reject of Spider-Man,” but said she hopes that one day she might get the chance to be in another film.
“Because everybody’s in it, it still means that my character is somewhere in that same universe, and I really love that. So, I hope I get to be Claire again,” she said.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ features Tom Holland as the titular superhero and also stars Sadie Sink, Zendaya, and Jon Bernthal in pivotal roles.
