Disney has set the release date for Ryan Gosling’s “Ghost Rider” for July 28, 2028, making it the third Marvel movie set for the year. The film, directed by Shawn Levy, marks Gosling’s debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The untitled “X-Men” movie comes out on May 5, 2028 followed by “Black Panther 3” which is set for December 15, 2028 release. An untitled Marvel movie is also scheduled for release on November 9, 2029, which was previously referred to as an untitled Disney movie.
The films were part of a large number of release announcements made by the company in fan event D23 over the last weekend.

Earlier last month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled ‘Ghost Rider’ during the studio’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, confirming that the film is slated for release in 2028. Levy and Gosling were also present.
Gosling joins an illustrious list of actors to portray Ghost Rider, also known as the Spirit of Vengeance, on screen. Nicolas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze in Sony Pictures’ ‘Ghost Rider’ (2007) and its 2011 sequel ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’. Gabriel Luna later portrayed the Robbie Reyes version of the character in Marvel’s television series ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’. A planned standalone Hulu series featuring Luna was ultimately cancelled in 2019.
The ‘Ghost Rider’ also marks another major franchise for Gosling, who is currently enjoying a successful year following his role in ‘Project Hail Mary’ and is also set to enter the ‘Star Wars’ universe with ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ in 2027.
