Samara Weaving to play Emma Frost in upcoming Marvel film

Australian actress Samara Weaving is finally a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

ย

According to reports, Weaving has been cast in Marvelโ€™s reboot of โ€œThe X-Men.โ€ She will portray Emma Frost, a powerful telepath whose comic book history spans a dramatic redemption arc from supervillain to superhero.

ย

โ€œThe X-Menโ€ will be directed by Jake Schreier, who oversaw last yearโ€™s โ€œThunderbolts.โ€

ย

This casting follows Marvelโ€™s massive Hall H showcase at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. During the panel, the studio thrilled fans by introducing Ryan Gosling as the new Ghost Rider and announcing that โ€œAlien: Romulusโ€ star David Jonsson will inherit the crown as Wakanda’s next leader in โ€œBlack Panther 3โ€.

The brief cinematic drought for Marvel Studios is officially over. While recent films like โ€œCaptain America: Brave New Worldโ€ and โ€œThe Fantastic Four: First Stepsโ€ struggled to find their footing at the box office, โ€œSpider-Man: Brand New Dayโ€ came out swinging. Led by Tom Holland, the blockbuster is pacing towards shattering records this weekend, effortlessly solidifying its status as a saviour for the franchise.

ย

Meanwhile, Weaving was most recently seen in โ€œReady or Not 2: Here I Comeโ€ and โ€œOver Your Dead Body.โ€ She also appeared in โ€œThe Babysitter,โ€ โ€œThree Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,โ€ โ€œScream VIโ€ and โ€œBill & Ted Face the Music.โ€

ย

The mutant heroes, at least the ones from the 20th Century Fox films, will make an appearance in โ€œAvengers: Doomsdayโ€ along with Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and James Marsden popping up in the โ€˜gangs-all-hereโ€™ mashup.
