Former England captain Michael Vaughan slammed Pakistan’s batting after their collapse in the Lord’s Test, where the Babar Azam‑led side folded for just 110 runs in reply to England’s 290.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan made a critical remark about Pakistan’s shambolic batting performance during the ENG vs PAK Lord’s Test.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan looked toothless with the bat, scoring just 110 runs in response to England’s 290 runs. Opener Azan Awais was the sole fighter, scoring 46 off 102 deliveries, but the majority of the batters failed to deliver and could not secure the lead.
Vaughan grills Pakistan’s batting
Speaking at the BBC Test Match Special, Vaughan claimed Pakistan’s batting is the easiest he’s witnessed in a long time and that the English bowlers are not being challenged at all, allowing them to dominate without much effort.

“I’ll be brutally honest. The England bowlers aren’t being challenged at all. And this Pakistan batting lineup is possibly the easiest batting lineup I’ve seen in a long time to bowl to. And not only that, I think as a bowler, I think they’re all queuing up to bowl because they know there are wickets out there,” Vaughan said.

Vaughan further argued that while Pakistan’s bowling can stand toe-to-toe against stronger teams, their batting was so weak that it felt like a second-division county cricket instead of an international Test match.

“It’s so easy. They’re still doing a good job, and they’re still looking very threatening. And I think this bowling attack, the way they’re bowling, will challenge better batting lineups if they continue in this fashion. But this is Pakistan batting. Is it second division county cricket? There’s no way that they are batting in any standard to say that; that is a Test match batting lineup,” he added.
England will resume batting on day three and have maintained a steady 261-run lead. Emilio Gay and Harry Brook would be back in the middle at Lord’s.
