Brazil have suffered an injury setback ahead of their international friendly against India, with in-form forward Raphinha ruled out after sustaining a thigh injury during the Selecao’s 4-2 win over Australia.
Raphinha was released by Brazil on Wednesday because of a thigh injury.
The forward was replaced during the 4-2 win over Australia on Tuesday, when he scored from a penalty kick.
The Brazilian Football Confederation said the Barcelona player underwent imaging tests that revealed a minor muscle edema on the back of his right thigh.
โAs a precaution and to ensure a speedy recovery, the player will be released from the Brazilian national team,” the confederation said. โNo replacement player will be called up for the friendly match against India.โ
Brazil will play at India on Saturday for its final match of the international break. It also drew with Australia 1-1 on Friday.
Raphinha is expected to undergo further tests in Spain, where he will continue his recovery process at his club.
He is off to a red-hot start to the season, having scored 15 goals in 10 games for club and country.
