The Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved a 3 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for Central government employees. The decision brings cheers for over 1.16 crore central government employees and pensioners ahead of Diwali.ย The hike will be implemented retrospectively from July 1, 2026.
The government revises dearness allowance and dearness relief (DR) twice a year, in January and July, to help employees and pensioners cope with inflation.ย
