The upcoming period drama, based on Charlotte Brontรซ’s 1847 novel, follows the emotional and moral growth of protagonist Jane, as she navigates love, social equality and independence in the 19th century.

The 1847 novelโwhich was considered revolutionary for its first-person narrative style and approach to class, sexuality and female independenceโfollows the titular heroine as she grows into adulthood and falls for the brooding Mr. Rochester.

The last major TV adaptation of โJane Eyreโ was in 2006, starring Ruth Wilson, while Cary Joji Fukunaga last adapted it for the big screen in 2011 starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender.

According to reports, the new adaptation is being written by Miriam Battye and produced by Working Title.
