The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony saw history being made after the gala moved out of Paris, France, in a significant gesture to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the most prestigious individual award in global football.
A total of 13 winners were awarded on Monday night at the Ballon d’Or gala, with star sportspersons in attendance.
Kane, Lamine & Alexis win big at Ballon d’Or
England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane eclipsed the likes of France’s Kylian Mbappe and Spain’s Lamine Yamal to win the men’s Ballon d’Or. Spain and London City Lionesses’ Alexis Putellas clinched the women’s Ballon d’Or in 2026.
Putellas won the prestigious award for the third time for her involvement in FC Barcelona’s quadruple-winning campaign last season.
Kane won two awards as he also clinched the men’s striker of the year award, while Lamine secured the men’s young talent of the Year for the third consecutive time, further strengthening his legacy in world football at a young age.
Meanwhile, Luis de la Fuente secured the Men’s Coach of the Year award after successfully guiding Spain to a smashing win at the 2026 World Cup.
