Agarkar is in the final month of his tenure as chief selector, but he is eligible to continue for one more year under BCCI regulations. Notably, the former Indian cricketer was absent from the BCCI’s recent performance review on September 3, raising doubts over his future.

According to The Hindu, the board members and selection committee chairman Agarkar will ‘hold a round of discussion‘ regarding the former cricketer’s extension.
A BCCI functionary said on conditions of anonymity that both sides were “positively looking at extension” and hoped “a few teething issues” could be sorted out at the earliest.
Clarity on Ajit Agarkarโs tenure is expected to emerge during the upcoming meeting between board members and selectors, when Indiaโs squad for the West Indies series will be finalised.
