Cazzu makes acting debut in ‘Risa y la Cabina del Viento’

Argentine rapper and singer Cazzu has officially stepped into the world of acting.

 

The singer, whose real name is Julieta Cazzuchelli, has made her film debut in “Risa and the Wind Booth” (Risa y la cabina del viento), a fantasy drama that premiered on Netflix on June 3.

 

This project is the chart-topping artist’s first-ever feature film role, marking yet another milestone in a career defined by constant reinvention!

 

Directed by Juan Cabral, the film blends drama and fantasy into an emotional narrative that examines loss, healing, and the pursuit of closure.

 

The story revolves around 10-year-old Risa, who finds an abandoned telephone booth that enables her to communicate with the deceased. While helping spirits resolve unfinished business, she hopes to use the booth to connect with her late father one last time.

 

In the film, Cazzu plays the role of Sara, Risa’s mother, who is struggling with her own grief while trying to guide her daughter through a devastating loss.

The role exhibits a different side of the artist known for her music and genre-blending creativity. Speaking at the film’s premiere, Cazzu shared her deep connection to the role, noting that there is “a lot of Sara in Julieta and vice versa,” underscoring just how personal her first cinematic project felt.

 

Cazzu is currently on her massively successful Latinaje tour, which supports her latest album of the same name.

 

The film boasts of an impressive cast of Argentine talent, including Elena Romero, Diego Peretti, Joaquín Furriel, Graciela Borges, and Gustavo Garzón.

 

Before being released on Netflix, “Risa and the Wind Booth” enjoyed a successful festival run. The movie premiered at the prestigious Mar del Plata International Film Festival, where it won the Best Film and Best Director honours, and earning praise for its heartfelt storytelling and artistic approach to grief.

 

Argentine rock icons Babasónicos created the film’s original score, perfectly capturing its deeply emotional and fantasy tones.
