Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old, co-founded the conservative youth group Turning Point USA and was a close ally of US President Donald Trump.

Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and close ally of President Donald Trump who played an influential role in rallying young Republican voters, was shot and killed on Wednesday (local time) during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was shot in the neck while he was answering a question about gun violence.

Videos are circulating on social media, capturing the moment Kirk was shot at an eventย at Utah Valley University.

The video taken from cellphone footage captured the moment of the shooting, showing 31-year-old Kirk addressing a large outdoor gathering at the university. He was speaking into a handheld microphone under a white tent marked with the slogans “The American Comeback” and “Prove Me Wrong” when the gunfire erupted.

A single shot rang out, and Kirk was seen reaching up with his right hand as a large volume of blood gushed from the left side of his neck. Stunned spectators were heard gasping and screaming before people started to run away.

What was Charlie Kirk debating moments before the shooting?

The right-wing leader was speaking at a debate hosted by his nonprofit political organization when the incident took place.ย ย 

The video shows Kirk had been taking questions from an audience member about mass shootings and gun violence.

“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” an audience member asked.

Kirk responded, “Too many.”

The questioner followed up: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?”

“Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk asked.
