Four-player trade confirmed by IPL
The IPL confirmed that CSK and SRH were involved in a major player trade deal, with Livingstone & Edwards moving to Chennai while Khaleel and Ellis joined Hyderabad.
“Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have completed a four-player trade ahead of the TATA IPL 2027, with Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards moving to CSK, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis join SRH,” the IPL wrote in a statement.
English all-rounder Livingstone heads to CSK for a reduced fee of INR 6 crore. He was originally acquired by SRH for INR 13 crore.
Aussie seam-bowling all-rounder Edwards will also join CSK for his existing fee of INR 3 crore. The cricketer was roped in by Hyderabad before making his international debut but was not in action during IPL 2026 after being ruled out with a foot injury.
Khaleel, Ellis to join SRH
SRH would receive left-arm pacer Khaleel at his existing 4.8 crore fee. He put up a strong showing in IPL 2025, claiming 15 wickets in 14 matches for CSK.
Notably, Khaleel previously represented Hyderabad from 2018 to 2021.
“He (Khaleel) featured in five matches for CSK in IPL 2026 before being ruled out of the season with a right quadriceps injury,” the statement added.
Australian fast bowler Ellis will also join SRH as part of the trade, bringing his death bowling experience in T20 cricket and reinforcing their pace-bowling resources.
