India has moved into the men’s kabaddi semifinals after putting up an exhilarating performance in their final Group A match at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday.

India’s men’s kabaddi team extended their unbeaten run in the group stage with a commanding 37-21 win over Chinese Taipei. They earlier defeated South Korea, Bangladesh and hosts Japan to book their spot in the semifinals and remain assured of at least a bronze medal.

Indian men’s kabaddi side secures semifinal berth

India raced to a commanding 17-7 lead before extending their advantage to 23-11 at half-time. The Indians maintained their dominance after the break, outscoring Chinese Taipei 14-10 in the second half. They amassed 28 raid points, including three bonus points, while also earning six points from two all-outs.

The Indian men’s kabaddi team began their campaign by defeating hosts Japan 49-24 and went on to thrash South Korea 63-31. On Wednesday, they maintained their unbeaten streak in the campaign with a dominant 48-25 victory over Bangladesh.

India has been one of the most dominant performers in Kabaddi at the continental sporting event, having won eight gold medals since the sport was included in the Asian Games. The country’s unparalleled dominance was disrupted once in 2018 when their campaign ended with a bronze.
