India and England took on each other in the third T20I of the ongoing five-game series. The teams met at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on July 7th, and while India hoped to level the score, it was England who registered yet another dominant win to increase their lead in the series.
The clash began with India coming in to bowl first after winning the toss. England opened its innings with Phil Salt scoring 70 runs and Jos Buttler scoring 36. Furthermore, Harry Brook added 16 runs to his name, with Jacob Bethell scoring 13.ย
Furthermore, after Tom Bantonโs dismissal on a duck, it was the performance of Sam Curran, who scored 41* runs in 24 deliveries, that helped England post a total of 201 runs in the first innings of the game.ย As for the Indian team, Harshit Rana and Prince Yadav took two wickets each, with Axar Patel taking one wicket as well.ย
Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue blew India away
Coming out to bat in the run chase, the Indian team opened its innings with the duo of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma. While many anticipated India to improve, Englandโs bowling attack proved to be too much to handle for the side.ย
Abhishek Sharma departed on a score of 10 runs, with Sooryavanshi scoring 13. Furthermore, Ishan Kishan was sent packing for just 13 runs as well, alongside Shreyas Iyer, who was dismissed on a score of five runs.ย Continuing the horrid run of batters, Axar Patel was dismissed on a score of 10 runs, with Harshit Rana scoring nine runs.ย
It was the performance of Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue that helped England register a brilliant win. While Archer took three wickets, Tongue took four, with Adil Rashid striking twice and Will Jacks taking one wicket. India was bundled out for a score of 76 runs, as England registered a mammoth 125-run victory and won their second game of the series. The hosts will hope to maintain their momentum and win their next game in hopes of clinching the series, whereas India will be desperate to improve.ย
