The National Peopleโ€™s Party (NPP) on Tuesday formally inducted Dr Lorho S Pfoze, former Lok Sabha member from Outer Manipur, into the party at a ceremony held at its headquarters.

The event was attended by senior party leaders, including NPP National Working President James K Sangma, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and State President Prestone Tynsong, along with ministers and legislators from Meghalaya and Manipur.

Welcoming Lorho, NPP National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the former parliamentarianโ€™s experience and acceptance across communities in Manipur would further consolidate the partyโ€™s footprint in the North East.

ย

โ€œLorho brings with him wisdom, experience and a strong support base from Manipur. He will be an asset as we work towards NPPโ€™s vision of One Voice, One North East,โ€ Sangma remarked.

ย

The NPP chief underscored the partyโ€™s growth as a regional force, recalling the vision of the late PA Sangma. โ€œOur late leader Sangma envisioned NPP as a platform to voice the aspirations of the North East. Today, people from all communities are joining us, and this is a moment to celebrate as we build a united voice for the region,โ€ he said.

ย

Expressing gratitude, Lorho pledged to contribute towards strengthening the partyโ€™s inclusive agenda. โ€œThe vision of late PA Sangma inspires us to reach out to all communities. NPP must be the party for the indigenous people and tribal communities of the North East. I look forward to working with the party to strengthen unity and inclusivity,โ€ he said.

ย

Party leaders described Lorho as a soft-spoken, transparent, and widely respected figure in Manipur politics, adding that his induction would give the NPP a stronger base in the state ahead of future political contests.
