Breaking years of silence around the fate of his much-awaited road-trip drama titled โJee Le Zaraaโ, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has said the film remains on hold.
ย
The film was officially announced in 2021 as a womenโs road-trip taleโa probable successor in spirit to โDil Chahta Haiโ and โZindagi Na Milegi Dobaraโโled by Bollywood bigwigs Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. However, if reports are to be believed, coordinating the schedules of the three actresses has been a challenge for the filmโs makers.

In a recent candid interview to a YouTube channel, Akhtar said: โI would hate to say that it is shelved. What I will say is that it has been put on the back burner. It is a film that will happen. Again, I don’t know when it will be. But it’s too delicious a script and there’s so much work that has already been done on it.โ
ย
He added: โI have finished all location scouts, recorded music for the film. So it’s just a matter of time that we come back and do it again.โ

However, Akhtar remain tight-lipped about the filmโs cast: โI can’t comment on the cast anymore, like what that will be and when that will land. But will the film happen? Ya, it will.โ
ย
Earlier, during a media interaction, actress Alia Bhatt had expressed optimism about the film. โDefinitely hogi (It will happen). It is a film that everybodyยญยญ – actors, producers, directors, wants to make,โ she said. โLogistically, it has been difficult to get all the dates together,โ she had admitted.
ย
Meanwhile, Farhan has been busy with his other projects. He is currently promoting โ120 Bahadurโ, essaying the journey of the valorous Major Shaitan Singh Bhati in a film inspired by the 1962 Battle of Rezang La. He is also gearing up for โDon 3โ, which will star Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
