Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh thinks that the most expensive player of IPL 2026 auction, Cameron Green, should be dropped from Kolkata Knight Riders’ playing XI. The Australian has come under the scanner early in the season after two poor outings and Green not bowling has also become an issue, disturbing KKR’s balance, as confirmed by captain Ajinkya Rahane after their season opener.
Cricket Australia also had to release an official statement after that stating that they had informed the franchise of his back injury. Green might not bowl for a few more matches and that is the reason why Harbhajan feels that he should be dropped from the XI. He cited that there are better batters than Green if he is not playing as an all-rounder for KKR.
Notably, KKR have the likes of Tim Seifert and Rovman Powell, T20 specialists, on the bench and both players can singlehandedly win matches for their team. Moreover, Allen and Seifert blew away bowling attacks during the recent T20 World Cup that was played in India and Sri Lanka.
“I feel that Cameron Green doesnโt fit in this team, and the simple reason is that he isnโt bowling. The team should bring in Tim Seifert and have him open the innings, because if Cameron Green isnโt going to bowl, there are better options available purely as a batter. That option is Seifert. Then thereโs Rovman Powell, who could also be played,” Harbhajan said on his Youtube Channel.
“Now suddenly KKRโs team must be feeling the pressure because they have lost both of their first two matches, one at home and one away. If they want to make a comeback from here, they need to fix a few things. First, they have been hit hard in both matches, first by Mumbai and now at home by SRH,” he added.
When will KKR play their next match?
KKR is one of the only two teams to not play over the weekend and have enough time before their next match in IPL 2026. The three-time champions will next face Punjab Kings on Monday at the Eden Gardens and would want to register their first win of the season soon.
