Gold price falls by Rs 1,105, silver down around 2.5% on MCX amid rise in oil prices | Check city-wise rates


Mumbai:

Rates of precious metals in futures tumbled on Monday, April 13, 2026, amid a surge in oil prices following failed US-Iran peace talks and a strong dollar. The gold June 5 contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) opened with a drop of Rs 1,105 or 0.72 per cent at Rs 1,51,547 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 1,52,652. It later gained to touch the intraday high of Rs 1,51,999. Last seen, it was trading at Rs 1,51,910, down Rs 742 or 0.49 per cent.

On the MCX, the yellow metal futures for August 2026 were down by Rs 810 or 0.52 per cent to trade at Rs 1,54,386 per 10 grams in business turnover of 1,129 lots.ย 

Silver Price On MCX

Similarly, the silver futures, maturing on May 5, 2026, opened lower. It started the trading session at Rs 2,38,362 against the previous close of Rs 2,43,274, a drop of Rs 4,912 or 2.01 per cent. Later, it touched the low of Rs 2,37,190, a drop of 6,084 or 2.50 per cent.ย 

Gold Price in the International Market

In the international market, the COMEX gold price dropped by 0.76 per cent to approximately USD 4,751.2 per troy ounce. The spot gold price at 11:30 am was USD 4,728.2 per ounce, down by USD 19.99 or 0.42 per cent.ย

The price of silver per kg in the national capital was Rs 2,55,000.ย

In Mumbai, the consumer would have to pay Rs 2,55,000 per kg today to buy the precious metal.

In Kolkata, the price of 1 kg of silver stood at Rs 2,55,000.ย

In Chennai, the price of precious metal stood at Rs 2,60,000 per kg.
