The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has officially announced the invitation of nominations for the National Youth Award (NYA) 2024. This was communicated in a statement released by the ministry on Monday.
The award is intended to inspire young individuals between the ages of 15 and 29 to pursue excellence in national development and social service. The ministryโs statement highlights that the programme encourages young people to cultivate a sense of responsibility toward their communities and become exemplary citizens.
The National Youth Award is typically presented during the annual National Youth Festival and is divided into two distinct categories: Individual and Organization.
Each year, a maximum of 20 awards are granted in the individual category, while five awards are given in the organizational category. However, this number may be adjusted at the discretion of the sanctioning authority in deserving cases.
The awards come with a significant financial component. For individuals, the award includes a medal, a certificate, and prize money of โน1,00,000. Voluntary youth organisations that are selected will receive a medal, a certificate, and an award amount of โน3,00,000.

The ministry has confirmed that the nomination process for the NYA 2024 is conducted online through an official portal. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to September 30.
The ministry encourages individuals and organisations to submit nominations if they have demonstrated excellent and identifiable work in various fields of development and social service. These fields include, but are not limited to, health, research and innovation, culture, promotion of human rights, art and literature, tourism, traditional medicine, active citizenship, community service, sports, academic excellence, and smart learning. All interested applicants are advised to submit their nominations before the specified deadline.
