Singer Guru Randhawa has found himself in the middle of a huge controversy over the lyrics of his latest track ‘Fine Shyt’. Many on social media have called out the song for being misogynistic and slammed the music video for objectifying female corporate workers. Now, Randhawa has broken his silence over the backlash and called the lyrics of his latest song “a silly little slang”.
Taking to his Instagram handle on Monday, Guru wrote, “Guilty as charged of making songs that repeat in your head forever. Low-key loving the edits though. No bad vibes! It’s just a silly little slang… calm down calm down calm down fam.”
Amid the mounting criticism surrounding his song, Randhawa visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar to seek blessings. While his social media post about the visit did not mention the ongoing controversy, the singer emphasised on maintaining personal resilience and faith through challenging circumstances.
Sharing a picture from the Golden Temple, Randhawa wrote a note in Punjabi about the power of Waheguru’s blessings. Translated into English, it states, “Whom Waheguru blesses, no storm can ever shake. When Baba Nanak holds someone’s hand, they only keep moving forward.”

His message implied that divine support renders any challenge surmountable, emphasising that Guru Nanak’s guidance empowers an individual to persevere through all obstacles.
Released on August 6, ‘Fine Shyt’ is sung by Guru Randhawa along with Yashvi Desai. The music video features Guru, Ruhee Dosani, Divinity Bisht, Arshia Sinha, Raema Grover, Darlene Laura and Mehar Kaur.
The video starts with a disclaimer stating that everyone featured is over 18 years of age and the storyline is purely fictional. The video also features a tongue-in-cheek warning advising viewers against recreating the dance routine at their workplaces to avoid potential disciplinary action from the HR department.
