Following the massive success of its show “Young Sherlock”, Prime Video has officially renewed it for a second season.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the first season premiered on March 4. The show followed 19-year-old defiant Sherlock Holmes, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, as he cleared his name after being framed for murder and theft of a stolen artefact.

Tiffin is confirmed to reprise his role for Season 2, with Ritchie returning to direct the opening episode.

The original star cast, including Donal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, and Ravi Aujla, is also expected to return.

“‘Young Sherlock’ has that rare magic—millions of fans around the world aren’t just watching a detective story, they’re falling in love with the origin of an icon,” Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement.

“Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill have cracked the code on making Sherlock’s early years feel fresh, dangerous, and utterly addictive, and have introduced a compelling take on James Moriarty that sets the stage for what’s to come. We can’t wait to see where they take him next in Season Two,” he added.

Ritchie also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, and co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer.
