How much is AIFF paying to bring the Brazil football team to Kolkata? Cost revealed

Indian football is gearing up for a landmark moment as the Blue Tigers prepare to take on five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on October 3.

History will be made at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Salt Lake, Kolkata, when the Indian national football team will face off against five-time FIFA World Cup winners Brazil on Saturday. The India-Brazil fixture would be one of the biggest International friendlies to happen in the country.

India kicked off its international friendlies schedule earlier, facing Panama at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Packed with thousands of loud supporters, the Blue Tigers sealed a hard-fought draw against a side that recently took part in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The India-Brazil fixture is expected to be a huge affair, and the All India Football Federation reportedly had to burn a major hole in their pocket.

How much did AIFF shell out?

According to Mint, which has quoted an AIFF source, the India-Brazil match will cost approx. ₹50 crore, of which ₹35-40 crore will go to the Brazilian Football Confederation as an appearance fee. The total cost also includes the Selecao’s logistics, hospitality, lodging, and other organisation-related costs.

Another report claimed that ₹6 crore was spent to charter a private flight for the Brazilian football delegation.

Additionally, hosting the three international fixtures is expected to cost the AIFF between ₹80 crore and ₹90 crore, including ₹35-40 crore for Brazil, ₹12.5 crore for Uruguay, and ₹5.5 crore for Panama. Notably, chartering private flights for the visiting teams alone cost ₹3 crore for Uruguay and ₹50 lakh for Panama.

However, these figures have neither been officially confirmed by the AIFF nor by any of the other football federations involved, and remain reported estimates.
