American rapper-songwriter Ice Spice was assaulted while out with a friend in a California McDonald’s in what her lawyer has termed an “unprovoked attack.”
Surveillance footage shared online shows the rapper, whose real name is Isis Gaston, dressed in a grey hoodie, sitting across a woman friend at a booth in the fast-food restaurant on April 15.
A few seconds later, a woman is seen walking inside and approaching the rapper. The woman, identified as Vayah, signals to the rapper’s friend to move over so she can join them.
After Ice pointed at the restaurant’s door, seemingly in an effort to get her to leave, Vayah proceeded to lean in close and questioned the rapper about her home town. The woman then slaps Ice and continued to physically attack the rapper before a man drags her away.

The brawl spilled out onto the street after Ice followed the woman outside. There, the 26-year-old rapper became embroiled in a heated exchange with the man who had pulled the woman away. The man allegedly threatened to get physical with Ice himself.
The scene turned even more chaotic as the women took their fight to the pavement. Punches were traded in the middle of the street before the scuffle ended with Ice Spice falling on her back.
In a statement, Ice Spice’s attorney Bradford Cohen said, “The unprovoked attack on my client has been reported to the LAPD and we will be pursuing any and all avenues to hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions, including criminally and civilly. We are also exploring holding the location responsible for their lack of appropriate security.”
