Iran’s passenger aircraft destroyed as Israeli strikes target Bushehr Airport: Report

Tehran:

Israel has carried out a new wave of missile strikes inside Iran as tensions continue to escalate across the Middle East. According to Iranian media reports, cited by Reuters, an Iranian aircraft was destroyed on the ground at Bushehr Airport during the attacks on Tuesday.

Authorities have not yet confirmed any casualties or clarified whether the aircraft was on an active service at the time of the incident, and details remain scarce as officials continue to assess the situation.

Besides, strikes also hit Tehranโ€™s Mehrabad Airport. The Mehr News Agency released images showing thick grey smoke billowing into the sky near what appeared to be a runway, indicating damage at the site.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that most of Iranโ€™s leaders had been killed amid intense strikes carried out by the United States and Israel. He claimed that Iran had responded by targeting civilians and asserted that the country had been completely decimated, with no remaining layers of defence.

Israel conducted air strikes on what it characterized as a key leadership hub of the Iranian government in Tehran. In an official statement, the Israel Defense Forces said the overnight mission, executed by the Israeli Air Force, was guided by accurate intelligence and focused on installations within a compound situated in central Tehran.

The military reported that multiple munitions struck several structures inside the complex, including the Presidential Office and the headquarters of the Supreme National Security Council. According to the statement, the location serves as a venue for senior security officials to hold high-level discussions and make critical decisions.

The IDF further stated that the operation also hit an institution involved in the training of Iranian military officers, as well as additional strategic facilities in the surrounding area.
