As Tamil Nadu gears up for the Assembly elections, demand for ultra-modern campaign vehicles fitted with luxury interiors and advanced technology has surged, with a Coimbatore-based firm reporting a sharp rise in orders from political parties across southern India.
ย
Operating from Sivananda Colony, the private company has carved a niche in designing and manufacturing customised mobile campaign units for leaders in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. With alliance talks and seat-sharing negotiations under way, parties are upgrading their campaign infrastructure, triggering fresh demand for high-end vehicles.
ย
Workers at the unit said traditional Tempo Travellers are increasingly being replaced by modified Force Motors Urbania vans, retrofitted to serve as sophisticated mobile stages and offices.
ย
Each van is equipped with swivel seats that allow leaders to reposition themselves while addressing crowds. Many feature centrally located stages fitted with hydraulic or manual lift systems, enabling leaders to rise above the vehicle roofline during speeches. Where lift systems are absent, movable staircases are installed.
Designed for long-distance travel, the vehicles include resting berths, sofas for meetings with party workers and specialised lighting systems to improve visibility during public interactions.

Advanced audio systems are fitted to ensure speeches carry across large gatherings. External handrails and access steps enable up to 15 security personnel to accompany leaders.
ย
The vans also integrate modern communication tools such as computers, printers, uninterrupted internet connectivity, smart LED televisions, large exterior LED display screens and surveillance cameras to record campaign events.
ย
Luxury additions include touch-operated recliner seats, ambient ceiling lighting inspired by premium automobiles and upgraded eco-friendly restroom facilities.
ย
Fabrication workers said the cost of building such vehicles ranges from โน7 lakh to โน1 crore, depending on specifications. โOrders are pouring in from various political parties, especially from Chennai. In January alone, we delivered seven vehicles, and several more are currently under production,โ a worker said.
ย
With election preparations intensifying, the firm expects demand to rise further in the coming months, underscoring how technology, comfort and optics are becoming central to modern political campaigning in southern India.
