Despite her digital stardom, singer Madison Beer continues to struggle with the online world, admitting in a recent interview that her relationship with the internet remains “really poor.”
ย
The 26-year-old “Make You Mine” singer, who has long been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness, explained that the platforms often serve as a source of distress rather than enjoyment.
ย
Beer now views social media through a more guarded lens to protect her well-being from the persistent negative effects she has faced throughout her career.
ย
“My relationship with social media is really poor,” explained Beer. “I feel like Iโm constantly anxious and feeling like I want to delete all my social media.”
ย
“Itโs something I actually struggle with weekly, where I will have a thought: I donโt want to participate in any of that stuff anymore. Then Iโll go on TikTok, and Iโll see someone post a video crying about how much they love me and how excited they are for my tour. Okay, obviously this is what I would love to only ever see, positive, nice things like that,” she continued.
ย
“The reality is thatโs not the truth, and I will always see a video thatโs a hate video or some nasty tweet or whatever it is.”

Despite commanding a massive Instagram following of over 40 million and 21 million on TikTok, Madison feels a sense of unfairness, noting that her celebrity status prevents her from using social media as a casual tool for connection like her peers do.
ย
“Most girls my age are on TikTok and able to scroll and [have] it not be an issue,” she said. “I have to sit and be worried that Iโm going to see a f—ing mean video about myself. Obviously, itโs not the biggest issue in the world, but it still is something thatโs hard, and itโs upsetting.”
ย
In her 2023 memoir โThe Half of Itโ, Beer revealed that she contemplated suicide at age 16 after nude photos of her leaked online. โI hope by sharing my honest journey that perhaps someone that wanted to hide behind a keyboard to be mean or poke fun at someone else’s expense thinks twice before they hit ‘send,โโ she said at the time.

Previously, the “Bittersweet” artist spoke about how using social media feels “so unnatural and not something that we were meant as human beings to do.”
ย
“It feels like weโre always performing,” said Beer.

On the work front, Beerโs new album โLocketโ was released last month.
